Frontier Internet Success!

Finally!  After three tries and countless hours of dealing with Customer Support, I finally have high speed Internet at the Airstream!  It's only 5Mbps, but it's faster than nothing.  And I also have a land line.  Remember those?  It will make our stays at the Airstream much more enjoyable.  And we still have AT&T cell service for when we travel.

Next project is a webcam...

It was HOT today.  We left early.  This is what my car told me.

On A Roll

Since I was on a roll, I decided to stain the deck addition I had made to put a shed.  I didn't build it.  I just stained it. Still proud of it.

LED Light Success

Score one for the good guys.  I went to Campjng World and visually matched the led light bulbs to suitable replacements.

LED Light Fail

A lot of fail this weekend.  An led light in the bathroom failed.  I've never seen an led light fail.  Just my luck.  And it's a weird one too.  Off to Camping World to see if they have a replacement.

Frontier Internet Fail, Part Three

So they stood me up.   Again.  I would be angrier if I didn't enjoy spending time in my trailer.  But this is ridiculous.  So I called.  Again.  This time I used the office address, and the rep that answered seemed to know what she was talking about. Ok, one more time. Fourth time is the charm.  Stay tuned for next week's episode of "The Frontier Internet Adventures"...

Frontier Internet Fail, Part Deux

So I drove all the way to the ranch today to "self install" the DSL modem.  It didn't work.  Two hours between being on hold and chatting with Frontier, I gave up.  This shouldn't be this hard.

So on my last chat, the customer service rep tells me a technician needs to come out.  I agree, but wasn't I told last week that this was a self install?  Didn't I drive to the ranch last week only to be stood up by the tech that never showed?

Let's try this again, shall we?  This Friday.  Again.

Frontier Internet, Part Deux

Well, to my surprise, UPS did deliver the DSL modem.  They left it in a plastic bag. Nice.  I was told that UPS didn't deliver to individual RV lots.  I guess I was told wrong.

Also, upon closer inspection of what I thought was the cable TV box, I found a telephone connection instead.  I guess this is it.

So I called Frontier again, and reordered internet service.   We'll see how this goes.

Frontier Internet Fail

I ordered Frontier (formerly Verizon) internet service at the ranch.  I was told to expect a tech today.  So I came a day early and waited.

I called and was told that service was already activated and available (it is not) and that a modem was mailed to me at the ranch (which doesn't accept deliveries to individual pads).  I tried reasoning with the guy but to no avail.

It would have been nice to be told this when I ordered.  I would have not ordered if this was their plan.  The fact they think they can tell me one thing and then do whatever the heck they want is incredibly frustrating.

So I canceled the order.

It is amazing how these supposedly "technology" companies can muck up a simple install.  At least I got here a day early.

Vintage Airstream

There's a vintage Airstream in da house this weekend!

Regenerated Water Softener

I've been putting it off long enough.  It was time today to regenerate the water softener.  My softener requires 2 pounds of regular table salt.  It was easy to do.  It's just so hot out there.
