Summer Retreat

We found a cozy little lot that would make the perfect summer retreat.  Only problem is that there’s a beat up park model already there.  We made the offer and if accepted we’ll have to dispose of that RV.  We can picture our Airstream under that roof!

Detour to North Carolina

Today we took a small (6 hour) detour without the Airstream to visit a place called Linville Land Harbor. Temperatures rarely exceed 80 degrees in the summer, and they have RV spots.  We’re thinking about getting ourselves a summer getaway.

Airstream in Da House

Actually, two Airstreams this Thanksgiving weekend!  Another thing to be thankful for!

Retirement Planning

No, not the financial kind.  The “where will we spend our retirement years” type planning.  We own the lot at River Ranch RV Resort and we absolutely love it.  We can see ourselves spending quite a bit of time down there.  Except during the summer.  The place is brutally hot.  Snowbirds have it figured out.

So we are searching for a place “up north” where we can spend our summers.  But I dislike the Northeast (long story), and I would rather not drive for 5 days to get to where I’m going.  So North Carolina it is.

A friend of mine turned me onto a place called Newland.  Apparently due to its height above sea level, the average summer temperature is in the high 70’s.  So during our Hilton Head trip we will take a one day detour around Newland, North Carolina to go check it out.

For When The Zombies Come

There’s a certain “prepper” element to camping.  If not for the zombie apocalypse, maybe a nasty storm that knocks out power for a few days. Being able to “make do” without electricity is a critical component to camping (and zombie preparedness).

So my wife got in on the action and bought an electricity free clothes washer from Lavario.  Just in case.  You never know.  Seems pretty silly to me.  But then again how come those folks on The Walking Dead are always wearing clean clothes?
